The Awesomes

03 I was really fired up earlier this summer when Seth told me about a new animated series he's developing for the Sci Fi Channel called The Awesomes. Despite what he was telling me, I just assumed it was going to morph to be about his awesome group of college buddies. But now that it's been announced, I see that my hopes to play the voice of Crazy Legs Lazershow are shattered.

But like all things, what's bad for me is great for America. Sci Fi announced Seth's new show Sunday. It's being billed as SuperFriends meets The Office.  It's a really clever idea about a team of past-their-prime superheroes looking to get back onto the justice enforcement A-List. As the announcement states, formed in the 1940's, the team has gone through a revolving roster of the world's top heroes, gradually losing popularity as other, cooler superhero teams come into favor. The Awesomes, funded by a long-standing U.S. Government contract, may be forced to disband when the current administration requests bids from other teams. Can this motley crew of has-been heroes reclaim their glory days?

Congrats Seth! I'm sure America will follow you up the cable channel ladder. Why NBC didn't bite on this blows me away. This is a perfect multiplatform, licensing play. The Sci Fi Channel is lucky to have you on board.

Enough of Seth. Back to me. While I didn't make the cut for this show, Seth has promised that I'll be cast in animated form in his next series, The Averages. I'll play a slightly overweight, and getting more so by the day, father of 3 and husband of 1, whose dream was to be the drummer for a rock band only to find himself starting internet companies that help people waste time when they're supposed to be working.

Speaking of which, back to work ...
