The Red Balloon - Still Genius Movie Making

The Red Balloon - Still Genius Movie Making
I just watched The Red Balloon again. It's an amazing movie. I've seen it dozens of times. Why is it awesome?

The director's 6-year-old kid plays the main non-helium character in the movie. What a great bonding experience between father and son.

It's 34 minutes. It does more in those 34 minutes than most movies do in 2 hours.

It's a french film, but told through visual language. It has no words.

The use of, or lack of, color is dramatic and clever.

The movie gives me the chills everytime I watch it. Amazing for a movie made in 1956.

It makes you feel like a kid again. The wonder. The innocence. The imagination.

If you want to see it, check it out on Time Warner Cable OnDemand.
