Back in NYC

2001593just_chillin_outturks_and__2 So we're back in NYC. We spent the last week in Vail. We had a really relaxing time. Thanks to my amazing wife who knew I needed a break, I got in 4 rounds of golf. The highlight was a 79 on Wednesday. I went birdie-birdie on hole 13 and 14 of the Country Club of the Rockies course. I hit a 6 iron to within a foot on the gorgeous par 3 over the Eagle River! In addition to some golf, we swam with the kids a bunch, Kass and I saw Bourne Ultimatum (loved it) and worked out most days and we ate a ton, which is typical of a Vail trip. The best meal was probably Splendido in Beaver Creek. (Kass, for the record, would not share her chocoloate souffle with me!).

This week we're catching up on work and hanging in the city. It feels great to be back. I walked around the Upper West Side this afternoon and realized that I actually missed the energy of the city even though we loved the clean air and open space of the mountains.

On Saturday we're heading to Turks and Caicos for 2 weeks. We rented a house on the beach. Though I'll need to work to get a new company I'm starting up and running, the plan is to recharge, spend time together as a family and enjoy the beach. We have several visitors while we're there and plan to enjoy the end of summer (hopefully hurricane free!) in the Caribbean.

We have a few days with an empty bedroom. Let me know if you want to join us! Turks and Caicos is great for the soul.

Got the new Blackberry Curve today. Love it. RIMM nailed it. This will be a MAJOR consumer hit. This is the first mobile post from the Curve.

Daddy's Little Girl

Vivianbirth2007_044_2 The great thing about c-sections is head shape of the baby (and seeing your wife's innards on the operating table). No cone head. Just perfect little round noggin.  (That's a freckle, not an earing. Once again, freckle, no earing. Not that there's anything wrong with that.) The downside of delivering c-sectually? Oozing blood, sore wife. And remember, happy wife, happy life. Cranky wife, hide the steak knife. C-sectioned wife, no life (for a few weeks, at least). Now, a c-section haiku.

Cut my wife open.

Baby comes out with round head.

Daddy passes out.

A Long -- But Wonderful!!! -- 5 Days

The last 5 days have been amazing, joyfilled, tiring, annoying, awesome, challenging and inspirational. On Thursday we dropped Myles at a friend's house (thanks Debbie and John for taking him to school!) and then went to the hospital. Kass and I showed up as parents of 2. By 11 a.m. we had increased the number of kids in our household above the national average (not that we're competitive or anything).

The next 4 days were a blur as Kass somehow convinced the doctors to discharge her after just 2 days (unheard of for a C Sectioned woman). I shuttled back and forth between the UWS and UES trying to keep Myles and Cole's schedules in tact as I delivered the right food at the right time to Kass.

Fast forward and it's now Monday night. I'm exhausted. But I wouldn't trade the last 5 days for anything. Kass and I were on the same page throughout the entire ordeal. The kids were amazing and we definitely bonded as a family. While I'm the first to admit that I didn't love the idea initially of having a third child, I'm already in love with Vivian. She's definitely going to be a daddy's girl. And I can't imagine my life without her (and the rest of the gang). Welcome to the family VIvi. I can already see that you're going to be your own little person, molded by Kass and me and the boys, but Vivi through and through. Now that you're 5 days old, get ready for Phish lessons as well as Saturday breakfasts at Sarabeths and Manhattan Diner, golf at Randalls Island and pitstops at Crumbs for cupcakes.

Lastly, thank you all for your well wishes. We really appreciate it. The flowers, the food, the cards, the toys for the boys and the love. Thank you. Thank you.

Vivian Myerberg Lazerow

Vivian Myerberg Lazerow was born today! Thanks Kass for doing most of the heavy lifting. You manufacture great babies. Viv arrived at 10:43 a.m. via C-Section at Mt. Sinai in NYC. She was in a deep slumber when Dr. Blumberg pulled her out of Kass' belly. Viv and Kass are doing well. I'm exhausted. Good night. (NOTE: Vivian is not a family name. We just liked the name. It works well on multiple levels -- it fits with Cole and Myles, it works in long form and has a killer nickname, Viv or even Vivi, and it just seemed right.)
